Welcoming ministers, deputy ministers, and digital experts from over 11 friendly countries, the Prime Minister emphasized that 60% of Pakistan’s population comprises youth—a demographic he called the country’s greatest asset in the global digital landscape.
He revealed that a major national program has been launched to enhance education and training in IT and AI, with the goal of transforming key sectors such as agriculture, industry, and exports through cutting-edge digital innovation.
Reflecting on his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, Prime Minister Sharif cited the distribution of 400,000 merit-based laptops and the digitization of the agricultural system with World Bank support as key milestones. He also highlighted ongoing efforts at federal and provincial levels to develop IT parks, incubation centers, research facilities, and training programs.
Mentioning the Lahore Safe City Project, completed in collaboration with a world-class firm, the Prime Minister praised the ongoing partnership with Chinese tech giant Huawei, which is training 200,000 students annually in IT skills.
He celebrated a record-breaking $4.1 billion in remittances in March 2025 and expressed confidence that the conference’s initiatives will place Pakistan among the world’s leading IT nations.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged a Pakistani investor who announced a joint $500 million venture with a Russian partner, and appreciated the collective $700 million commitment made by Pakistani doctors and tech experts.
In closing, he thanked global participants including Dima Al Yahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, and pledged personal leadership in guiding Pakistan toward becoming a global hub for IT.
With unwavering determination, Prime Minister Sharif affirmed, “Pakistan will become a global center for information technology through steadfast commitment and continuous efforts.”
