Omar Ayub Claims Only Imran Khan Can Unite a Divided Pakistan; Warns of Rising Tensions with India

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, has said that the Pakistani nation is unfortunately divided and only Imran Khan has the capability to unite the country.
Speaking to the media during a court appearance, Ayub revealed that 25 new cases had been filed against him by the government. Addressing rising regional tensions, he said that the Modi-led government in India had effectively declared war against Pakistan. He added that India has scrapped the Indus Waters Treaty — originally signed between Nehru and Ayub Khan — and has established military bases along the Pakistani border.
Ayub criticized the current government, stating that the people are not with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif or the President, but rather stand with the founder of PTI. Drawing a parallel to post-WWII Britain, he said that it is time for the current leadership to step down and bring back Imran Khan to lead the country.
He further alleged that water resources were sold following a briefing on July 8, 2024, and claimed that petroleum worth Rs. 500 billion is being smuggled. Stressing the role of the armed forces, he said they should stand with the nation, which is clear about who it supports.
Ayub concluded by reiterating that only Imran Khan has the power to unify the nation and guide it through this critical period.
