Balochistan Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind and Ministers Hold Press Conference: Criticism of Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s Statements

Quetta:Balochistan Government spokesperson Shahid Rind and provincial ministers held a press conference in Quetta, addressing key political issues. During the conference, Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Sardar Sadiq Umrani, responded to recent remarks made by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP).

Sadiq Umrani strongly condemned the statements made by Akhtar Mengal, particularly regarding the issues of Balochistan’s Union Councils, which, according to him, have been misrepresented as self-imposed problems. He accused Mengal of facilitating terrorists at times and speaking against the state. Umrani stated that such remarks were damaging to the province and went against the democratic process.

The Minister for Irrigation also reacted to Akhtar Mengal’s comments about the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), condemning the language used by Mengal and stressing that PPP has consistently won elections in Balochistan through democratic means. Umrani further remarked, “Akhtar Mengal is an enemy of the Baloch nation,” questioning his stance on prominent Baloch figures, including Adi Faryal and Maryam Nawaz, and their contributions to Balochistan.

He also reminded the public of the ongoing legal cases against Sardar Akhtar Mengal, including his involvement in the 3 MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) cases. Despite the charges, Umrani claimed that Mengal had remained silent and refrained from revealing the details of his discussions with the Chief Minister, fearing repercussions that might arise from exposing the truth.

The press conference marked a pointed response to the recent political tension in the province, with Balochistan’s provincial government asserting its position on the ongoing controversies.
