Wheat Theft Scandal Unfolds in Balochistan’s Food Department, Anti-Corruption Takes Action

QUETTA: Two major wheat theft scandals have emerged within Balochistan’s Food Department, prompting the Anti-Corruption Department to take swift action. The department has registered cases against five officials and arrested three of them for their involvement in the theft of wheat from government warehouses.
According to Director General of Anti-Corruption, Abdul Wahid Kakar, the incident involved the theft of 2,018 wheat sacks worth approximately 23 million Pakistani rupees from the Food Department’s warehouses located on White Road and Spini Road in Quetta. These stolen sacks were being sent to flour mills without any legal documentation.

Three of the suspects have been arrested.
Furthermore, DG Anti-Corruption Kakar revealed that a separate investigation into the disappearance of 4,885 wheat sacks from the Zhob warehouse has also been completed. As a result, two other officials, Mohammad Azam and Zafar Achakzai, have been implicated in the theft. Special teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the suspects.
