Balochistan Assembly Members Protest Over Lack of Basic Facilities in Sariab

During the ongoing session of the Balochistan Assembly, lawmakers voiced strong concerns over the persistent lack of basic facilities in the Sariab area of Quetta. The session witnessed a heated protest by members who criticized the government for neglecting the region.

Prince Agha Umar Ahmedzai, Member of the Provincial Assembly, raised a pointed question: *“Are the people of Sariab not Balochistani?”* He accused the authorities of systematic discrimination against the residents of the area.

Echoing the concern, MPA Ali Madad Jatak said that even in 2025, the people of Sariab remain deprived of essential services like electricity. He harshly criticized the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), describing it as a “white elephant” that has completely failed to provide any relief to the public.

Jatak highlighted the burden on ordinary citizens, stating, *“For a poor man, paying an electricity bill of 50,000 rupees is simply impossible.”* He demanded that the heads of QESCO and the Sui Southern Gas Company be summoned to the Assembly to answer the representatives’ queries and explain the ongoing failure in service delivery.

Several other assembly members expressed similar concerns, calling on the government to take immediate action and provide relief to the underserved populations of Sariab and other deprived areas of Balochistan.
