Sanaullah Baloch Calls for Dialogue to Resolve Balochistan’s Issues, Criticizes Current Government Approach

Sanaullah Baloch, a senior leader of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal), has stated that, like the Jaffar Express, the country itself is being held hostage. He pointed out that when the ruling elite considers itself infallible and attempts to resolve issues through force, incidents like these are inevitable. He further criticized the powerful class for failing to understand the country’s fundamental problems, suggesting that when institutions like the judiciary and constitution are held hostage, non-state actors are able to take advantage of the situation.
In an interview on *Aaj TV’s* *News Insight with Amir Raza* program, Sanaullah Baloch emphasized that the long-standing issue of Balochistan has always been addressed through military operations, rather than constructive dialogue. He specifically mentioned that the speech delivered by Chief Minister Sardar Sardar Baloch on Balochistan is tantamount to adding fuel to the fire, highlighting that the disadvantaged classes bear the brunt of the ongoing conflict.
He criticized the ineffective approach towards resolving Balochistan’s issues, stating that although committees have been formed to address the problem, there has never been a serious or comprehensive attempt to find a lasting solution. Reflecting on the 18th Amendment, Baloch lamented that instead of bringing about meaningful change, it has only facilitated further corruption, adding that political rights promised to the people of Balochistan have not been delivered.
Sanaullah Baloch also pointed out that the Baloch issue is not unique or different from other global conflicts and that, following revolts and unrest, the only way forward is through dialogue. He called on both the establishment and the rebellious youth to understand this reality. He further mentioned that a specific segment of Baloch society believes that Islamabad or the federal government treats Balochistan like a colony, denying the people their rightful share of resources. He warned that this perception is not without reason and that the growing sense of deprivation is contributing to rising discontent among the people.
Baloch’s comments underscore the urgency for constructive dialogue to address the grievances of the Baloch people and resolve the long-standing tensions in the province.
