NAB Forms Special Prosecution Team Ahead of Hearing on Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Appeals

Islamabad: In a significant development ahead of the hearing on appeals filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the £190 million case, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has constituted a special prosecution team.
According to Express News, the special team will represent NAB and assist the Islamabad High Court during the hearing of the appeals and suspension of sentence petitions filed by the former Prime Minister and his spouse.
The team has been formed under the directives of NAB Prosecutor General Syed Ehtesham Qadir Shah and with the approval of NAB Chairman. It consists of five prosecutors, led by Sardar Muzaffar Ahmad Khan. The other members include Irfan Ahmed, Sohail Arif, Rafiq Maqsood, and Yasir Saleem Rana.
NAB confirmed that the special team will appear before the Islamabad High Court on June 5 to present and defend the Bureau’s stance in the high-profile case.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had earlier filed appeals against their convictions and submitted requests for suspension of their sentences. The Islamabad High Court is scheduled to hear these matters on June 5.
