Balochistan Bar Council Supports Islamabad High Court Judges for Challenging Unconstitutional Transfers

Quetta: In a joint statement, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Bar Council, Rahib Khan Belidi Advocate, and Chairman of the Executive Committee, Amanullah Kattar Advocate, expressed their support for the courageous judges of the Islamabad High Court. The statement commended the five judges of the Islamabad High Court—Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babur Sattar, Justice Sardar Ayaz Ishaq Khan, and Justice Samina Iqbal—who have challenged the unconstitutional transfers in the court.
The Balochistan Bar Council hailed the brave actions of these judges and expressed admiration for their courage in defending the dignity and independence of the judiciary. These judges have taken a stand against the transfer of judges from Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to new postings and have challenged the seniority-based transfers in the Supreme Court.
The statement further criticized the involvement of the establishment in influencing judicial decisions, claiming that the President of Pakistan, under the establishment’s influence, is transferring judges to Islamabad High Court to ensure biased decisions. This, according to the Bar Council, undermines the independence of the judiciary.
The statement also mentioned that previously, courageous judges from Islamabad had written to the Supreme Judicial Council about the interference of secret agencies in judicial matters, but no action has been taken on the matter yet. Once again, this situation demonstrates that the 26th Constitutional Amendment was introduced under the influence of the establishment, not political parties. As a result, lawyers across the country have rejected the 26th Amendment.
The Balochistan Bar Council reiterated its commitment to uphold constitutional supremacy and support an independent judiciary and vowed to continue playing its role in defending these principles within the country.
