Pakistan and China Reaffirm Strong Ties During Meeting in New York

On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York on the sidelines of a United Nations Security Council meeting. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional issues, and global affairs.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi reaffirmed the “iron friendship” between Pakistan and China. The meeting also focused on various aspects of their bilateral relations, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and significant global and regional matters.
Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that Pakistan aims to elevate its ties with China to new heights. Wang Yi assured that China would continue to support Pakistan, particularly in addressing core issues and assisting in socio-economic development.
In addition to their discussions, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also addressed a session at the UN Security Council on the topic of global governance. In his speech, Dar highlighted the need for collective action to maintain international peace and security, warning that today’s crises are endangering the world order established under the UN Charter.
