Ranâ Sanaullah: PTI’s Roots Remain Deep in the Public, but They Need to Accept Democratic Practices

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has acknowledged that there is no doubt PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) still holds strong roots among the public, and Imran Khan cannot be sidelined from politics. Speaking in a private TV interview, he emphasized that while PTI has significant public support, their problem lies in their refusal to acknowledge the presence of other political parties.

Rana Sanaullah stated that even if PTI wants to engage in negotiations in 10 days, the government is ready to participate. However, he pointed out that PTI lacks understanding of parliamentary democracy and does not believe in the power of dialogue. According to him, political matters are best resolved when politicians sit at the negotiation table, as this helps to solve major issues.

The advisor also underscored the importance of political forces opting for negotiations at all times. He recalled that it was under Nawaz Sharif’s instructions that the government initiated talks with PTI. “Nawaz Sharif had emphasized that if we don’t sit together, the country won’t get out of its crises. If he had not authorized it, how could we have engaged in dialogue?” he added.

Rana Sanaullah also remarked that if PTI has not learned from the incidents of May 9 and November 26, they should come and witness the results again on February 8. He criticized PTI for avoiding negotiations and clarified that it was not a case of offering them a blunt rejection in the fourth round of talks.

It is important to note that the negotiations between the government and PTI have officially ended. Initially, PTI announced the termination of talks, and today, government negotiator Irfan Siddiqui confirmed that the dialogue process has not reached a deadlock but has indeed come to a close.
