PTI’s New President in KPK Sparks Tensions within Ali Amin Gandapur’s Camp

Peshawar:The appointment of Junaid Akbar as the new president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has caused unrest and unease within the camp of Ali Amin Gandapur, the provincial chief minister. According to sources, although questions had been raised internally about Gandapur’s performance, tensions escalated after the release of Bushra Bibi, with many senior party leaders expressing dissatisfaction over the chief minister’s leadership in her presence.

Sources revealed that disagreements between Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi began even before the November 24 march. Following the march, Bushra Bibi held one-on-one briefings with several PTI leaders to discuss the situation. These briefings, which included important party figures, cabinet members, and ideological workers, focused on governance issues in the province and concerns regarding the performance of the chief minister.

During these discussions, Bushra Bibi reportedly asked key leaders about the loyalty of party members to Imran Khan in the province and the validity of allegations regarding corruption within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Sources also indicated that in her meeting with Imran Khan on November 26, Bushra Bibi briefed him on the province’s governance and ongoing issues.

Imran Khan, upon receiving the report, advised Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to work on improving governance in the province and address the corruption allegations. He emphasized that eradicating corruption is a top priority for the party, and a zero-tolerance policy should be followed. Additionally, Imran Khan assigned several tasks to Gandapur in a bid to improve the situation.

The appointment of Junaid Akbar as the new provincial president, amidst these tensions, has further intensified the political dynamics within PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership.
