Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Forms Special Task Force to Combat Human Trafficking

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a special task force to combat human trafficking, reaffirming his commitment to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. The task force has been formed in light of the tragic incident where Pakistani nationals lost their lives on a boat carrying illegal immigrants.
On Wednesday, a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took place to discuss the formation of the task force and the investigation into the incident. During the meeting, the Prime Minister approved the establishment of the task force.
The briefing provided to the Prime Minister outlined the progress made in identifying individuals involved in human trafficking, including arrests, FIRs filed against perpetrators, and the future course of action. It was revealed that six organized human trafficking groups have been identified, 12 FIRs have been registered, 25 individuals have been identified as being involved, and three key individuals have been arrested. Furthermore, 16 individuals’ names have been added to the passport control list.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ataullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other relevant senior officials.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to swiftly apprehend members of the human trafficking groups and ensure they are given exemplary punishments. He also directed that all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, play an active role in identifying human traffickers.
The Prime Minister expressed his sorrow over the deaths of Pakistanis in the boat tragedy, stating that the entire nation, including himself, is deeply saddened by the incident. He further vowed that those involved in human trafficking, whom he described as “killers of humanity,” would face justice and be held accountable for their actions.
