Qadir Patel Accuses MQM of Playing the Provincial Card After Political Failure
KARACHI:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Qadir Patel has accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of playing the “provincial card” after suffering what he described as a severe political failure.
Reacting to MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui’s recent statement, Patel said the party had repeatedly raised the issue of division and new provinces whenever it lost public support.
Patel also referred to past statements by MQM leader Mustafa Kamal, saying that Kamal had previously accused Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of being an agent of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
He further claimed that Mustafa Kamal had alleged that when Siddiqui visited India, he tore up his Pakistani passport there. Patel asked Siddiqui to clarify whether Kamal was “lying then or telling the truth today.”
The PPP leader also questioned MQM’s political narrative, asking the party to first explain “whose culture” was associated with bodies found in sacks and who, he alleged, had damaged Karachi’s industries in pursuit of extortion.
Patel said the MQM should stop shedding “crocodile tears,” adding that the PPP would continue its democratic and constitutional struggle against every attempt to divide the people of Sindh.
He said that every time Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui played the provincial card, the people would demand accountability from him. Patel maintained that the people of Sindh, particularly Karachi, would not become part of any political agenda aimed at dividing society along ethnic or linguistic lines.
