Pakistan Hopes for Positive Outcome in November 6 Talks with Afghan Taliban

**ISLAMABAD:** Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andarabi expressed optimism that the next round of talks with the Afghan Taliban, scheduled for November 6, will yield positive results.
Addressing the weekly press briefing on Friday, Andarabi said, “Pakistan will continue to play its role in the reconciliation process and hopes for constructive outcomes from the November 6 talks.”
He recalled that the second round of negotiations between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government concluded on Thursday evening in Istanbul, with mediators present.
According to the spokesperson, “Pakistan participated in the Istanbul talks, which began on October 25, with sincerity and goodwill.” Initially planned for two days, the discussions were extended to four days to make a genuine effort toward reaching a mutual understanding.
Andarabi emphasized that Pakistan engaged in dialogue with a positive spirit but maintained its firm stance that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorism against Pakistan.
“Pakistan does not seek further escalation but expects the Taliban government to honor its commitments to the international community and take concrete and verifiable action against terrorist groups such as *Fitnat al-Khawarij* and *Fitnat al-Hindustan*,” he said.
He added that Pakistan has consistently urged the Taliban for the past four years to take decisive action against terrorist organizations operating within Afghanistan. Despite repeated assurances, cross-border terrorist attacks from Afghan soil have increased.
Referring to last month’s unprovoked attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistani territory, the spokesperson said Pakistan responded strongly to these provocations.
Andarabi reaffirmed that Pakistan desires peace but will take all necessary steps to protect its sovereignty and citizens. He concluded by appreciating Qatar and Türkiye for their constructive role in facilitating the dialogue process.
