Restoration of Constitutional Balance and Every Institution Working Within Its Limits Is Essential for Political Stability: Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri
QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Central Secretary General and MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said that due to unconstitutional measures, parliament’s powers and the judiciary’s independence have been taken away. The way the JUI chief raised his voice in parliament to defend democracy, the people of the entire country pay tribute to him, while government members, especially Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, are levelling baseless allegations to save themselves from embarrassment.
He said that due to administrative interference in the judiciary’s jurisdiction, a series of judges’ resignations has begun. The ongoing political conflict in the country, the trampling of parliamentary values and the alleged unconstitutional interference in the judiciary and other state affairs will plunge the state into even more serious crises. He said that the rulers, for the sake of power, have provided a path for undemocratic and unconstitutional action to interfere in politics. With the spirit of the Constitution being stripped away, all political parties and the judiciary face a stern test. At present, the basic pillars running the state structure — the Constitution, law, parliament and democracy — have been practically suspended.
He said that without the true restoration of constitutional balance, the democratic system in the country cannot move forward. Only when all institutions work within their constitutional limits can political stability come to the country.
In the past seventy years, the country has not suffered as much damage as it has during the past four years due to the policies of the national establishment and rulers, and at present the rule of the Constitution and law in the country appears completely suspended.
