New Trend of Viral Explicit Videos of Transgender People in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa After Dolphin Ayan Incident

Peshawar: A disturbing new trend has emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where explicit videos of transgender individuals are being made and circulated on social media following instances of physical abuse. According to transgender rights organizations, at least 60 such videos have been recorded this year alone, involving transgender people being subjected to sexual violence.
Arzo, the leader of the She-Male Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and president of the Trans Action Alliance, revealed that these videos were not isolated incidents. She stated that since the beginning of 2024, around 60 videos have been created after forced sexual assault on transgender people, shedding light on the rising incidents of violence against them.
Arzo further reported that since 2015, at least 140 transgender individuals have been murdered in the province, while nearly 1,500 others have been injured in various forms of violence, including shooting, physical assault, and kidnapping for ransom. Despite these alarming statistics, many of the accused perpetrators are often released soon after their arrest.
The recent viral video of transgender individual Dolphin Ayan, who hails from Peshawar, has sparked widespread outrage. The explicit video, which surfaced on social media a few days ago, led to the first-ever case being registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) in an effort to hold perpetrators accountable.
Transgender rights activists are calling for stricter legal measures and better protection for the community to prevent such exploitation and violence in the future.
