Lahore High Court Seeks Response from DC Lahore and Other Parties on PTI’s Request for February 8 Rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE:The Lahore High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore and other relevant parties to respond to the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8, 2025.
The hearing was conducted by Justice Farooq Haider in response to the application submitted by PTI Punjab’s Chief Organizer, Aliya Hamza. The petitioner stated that a request for permission to hold the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan grounds was made to the DC Lahore on January 29, but there has been no response from the DC office thus far.
In her petition, Aliya Hamza argued that whenever PTI seeks permission for rallies, authorities raise concerns over law and order issues. She further claimed that she has been subjected to harassment and threatened with withdrawal of the petition. The petitioner requested the court to direct the DC Lahore and other concerned authorities to grant permission for the rally and prevent the harassment and abduction of PTI’s innocent workers.
