Imran Khan Bars PTI Leaders from Holding Deal Talks or Making Internal Statements

Calls for Opposition Unity on Constitutional Agenda, Criticizes Meeting Restrictions in Jail

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued strict instructions to party leaders, forbidding any negotiations for deals or public criticism of fellow party members.
Speaking to the media after meeting Khan in Adiala Jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said only two out of the five lawyers on the approved list were allowed to meet Khan, despite Islamabad High Court orders mandating two meetings per week.
Barrister Gohar stated that Imran Khan had issued six clear directives during the meeting. “He has categorically said that no one is authorized to hold talks for any deal on his behalf,” Gohar reported. Khan also refused to comment on the controversial Mines and Minerals Act, stating no position will be taken until political leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur, are allowed to meet him.
The PTI founder emphasized internal discipline, directing party officials not to make public statements against one another. He further urged the opposition to unite on a limited, constitutionally driven agenda to restore democracy and uphold the rule of law.
Barrister Gohar also condemned the repeated denial of family visits, stating that even Khan’s sisters were not permitted to meet him. “We demand immediate attention to this violation of court orders,” he added.
PTI spokesperson Niaziullah Niazi backed these concerns, highlighting that despite submitting eight lists for jail meetings, only two were facilitated. “This is a blatant contempt of court and an attack on judicial independence,” he said.
He also pointed out irregularities, such as individuals not on the approved list being granted access while others, including PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja, were turned away outside the jail.
The spokesperson concluded by calling for a legal convention and demanded that the judiciary take notice of the repeated violations of its directives.
