Federal Government Declares August 26 Public Holiday Across Pakistan for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on August 26, 2026, to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), commemorating the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Following final approval by the prime minister, the Cabinet Division has issued a formal notification declaring Wednesday, August 26, a public holiday across the country.
According to the official notification, all federal government and semi-government offices, educational institutions, banks and other relevant public offices will remain closed on the occasion.
The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal is observed across Pakistan with religious devotion and enthusiasm. Special Seerat-un-Nabi conferences, Mehfil-e-Naat gatherings and ceremonies featuring Durood-o-Salam will be organised in cities and towns across the country.
Various religious organisations are also expected to hold processions and rallies, with large numbers of devotees participating in the events.
Government and private buildings, mosques, streets and major roads in the federal and provincial capitals as well as other major cities have been decorated with lights and green flags in connection with the occasion.
In view of security concerns, comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place in sensitive areas to ensure the safety of participants attending processions and religious gatherings.
The administration has directed police and other law-enforcement agencies to remain alert and take all necessary measures to maintain law and order throughout the celebrations.
