Islamabad High Court Grants Bail to Imran Khan in Toshakhana Case, But Release Delayed Due to Other Pending Cases
Islamabad:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the Toshakhana Case 2 and issued an order for his release. However, despite the court’s ruling, Khan will not be released immediately due to ongoing legal proceedings in Punjab and other pending cases against him.
The IHC’s release orders will first be sent to the relevant court, and once the required bail bonds are deposited, a release order (rocbaar) will be issued. It is expected that the release order will be processed by tomorrow, allowing for Khan’s potential release.
Although the Islamabad High Court has approved his bail in the Toshakhana Case 2, Khan still faces several other charges, including cases related to terrorism in Punjab, where his bail has not been granted.
Legal experts have pointed out that Khan’s release remains uncertain due to ongoing investigations into his involvement in the 190 million pounds corruption scandal and his alleged role in the May 9 unrest. Both cases are still under trial and moving toward their respective conclusions, making his immediate release unlikely.
It is important to note that while the Islamabad High Court has ordered Khan’s release in the Toshakhana case, the decision will need to be presented in the Special Judge Central’s court. After the submission of the required bail bonds, the Special Judge Central will issue the release order, which is expected to facilitate Khan’s eventual release.
The Islamabad High Court had approved Khan’s bail after hearing arguments from his legal team, granting bail against two surety bonds of 10 lakh rupees each. Despite this, Khan’s release remains pending due to the complexity of the other cases still in progress against him.
