PTI Founder’s Lawyer Arrives at Adiala Jail to Obtain Signatures on Power of Attorney in £190 Million Case

ISLAMABAD: Lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, representing the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), arrived at Adiala Jail on Friday to secure signatures on power of attorney documents related to the £190 million case.

According to sources, Chaudhry submitted his credentials at the prison’s main entrance and provided jail authorities with a copy of the Islamabad High Court’s order regarding the matter.

Speaking to the media, Chaudhry said he had come to obtain signed power of attorney documents in connection with the £190 million case. He added that a copy of the order issued by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court had been delivered to prison officials.

The lawyer stated that the court had issued the directive during proceedings on a contempt of court petition, ordering prison authorities to facilitate the signing of the documents.

Chaudhry said that under the court order, jail officials are obligated to have the power of attorney documents signed and returned within seven days. He noted that the legal team intends to file an appeal before the Supreme Court in the £190 million case.

He further revealed that the power of attorney documents had been submitted to prison authorities on May 25, adding that the delay in obtaining signatures was affecting legal deadlines and court proceedings.
