Belgium’s Worst-Ever Wildfire Engulfs 3,000 Hectares, Spreads Toward Germany

BRUSSELS:A massive wildfire in Belgium has engulfed around **3,000 hectares of forest** and is now advancing toward the German border, according to international media reports.
Helicopters, firefighters, military personnel and local farmers are working to contain what has been described as the worst forest fire in Belgium’s history.
Local authorities have urged residents who were evacuated from affected areas to remain away from their homes for the time being, citing continuing safety concerns.
Officials said efforts were underway to prevent the fire from spreading further toward Germany and to bring the blaze under control.
According to the **European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS)**, the wildfire is the largest ever recorded in Belgium and has affected more than twice the area damaged by a major fire in 2011.
The blaze comes amid a rise in wildfires across Europe, where extreme heat and prolonged drought have created increasingly dangerous conditions for forest fires.
