PTI Will March from Peshawar with 2 Million People on September 27: Shafi Jan

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will march from Peshawar towards Islamabad on September 27 with two million people.

Speaking in an interview, Shafi Jan said a large number of PTI workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would head towards Islamabad, while protests and marches were also being planned in different parts of the country. He said the party’s preparations were not limited to a single location and that protest activities would be expanded to multiple areas.

Shafi Jan said the only person who could stop the planned march was PTI founder Imran Khan. He added that if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met Imran Khan and received instructions to cancel the march, party workers would abide by the decision.

He said PTI’s entire leadership, as well as those involved in party affairs from abroad through video blogs, should return to Pakistan and unite ahead of September 27. He also called on ordinary Pakistanis to come forward, describing the situation as a “last opportunity” and saying there was no room for mistakes at this stage.

The PTI leader further claimed that a senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader had contacted him. However, he said that any PPP leader or group wishing to join the movement would have to resign from their constitutional positions.

Shafi Jan stressed that the success of the movement would require unity among the leadership, party workers and the general public. He said the PTI would announce further plans and strategies regarding its protest activities and the September 27 march in the coming days.
