Iran Sets Six Conditions for Full Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Iran has presented the United States with six conditions for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement issued by Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian.

The statement said Iran must never again be threatened “at any time or in any language,” and that the dignity and honor of the Iranian nation must not be insulted.

Iran also demanded that the war imposed on Iran and its allies be permanently ended, the naval blockade of Iran be lifted, and US forces be withdrawn from areas surrounding Iran.

The sixth set of demands includes full compensation for the damage inflicted on Iran, without any reduction, along with the removal of what Tehran describes as unjust and illegal sanctions imposed on the Iranian people.

The statement further called for the unconditional release of Iranian assets that are currently frozen abroad.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council warned that the Strait of Hormuz would not be reopened if the United States fails to change its approach toward Iran.

He added that whether through war or negotiations, Iran would not back down from its objectives.
