Engineer Zamark Achakzai Urges Serious Action for Improving Peace and Governance in Balochistan Assembly

Quetta:Parliamentary Leader Engineer Zamark Achakzai voiced strong concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan and the failure of the provincial leadership to address key issues. Speaking during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Achakzai emphasized the emotional and psychological toll that abductions have on the victims’ families, describing the experience as “unbearable” and “a challenge for all of Balochistan.”

He stated, “When someone passes away, there is a sense of closure, but when a person is abducted, especially a young child, the pain and agony it causes their parents are unimaginable. This is not just one person’s tragedy; it is a tragedy for all of Balochistan.”

Achakzai criticized the lack of trust between lawmakers, noting that despite having 65 elected members in the Balochistan Assembly, no one has ever seriously asked how to manage the province’s law and order. “We don’t even know who holds the real power. Who is responsible for taking action on these critical issues?” he said, adding that those in positions of authority seem unaware of their responsibilities.

He pointed out that the provincial government has failed to take concrete steps to address the security challenges, and called for more accountability. “We need serious action from our assembly. Those involved in these heinous acts of kidnapping should not be given any leniency,” Achakzai said, stressing that it is essential for the elected representatives to address the situation and lead from the front.

Achakzai also raised concerns over the economic impact of the closure of key borders, such as the Chaman and Taftan borders, which have significantly affected local businesses. He questioned, “What will the people whose livelihoods depend on these borders do now? Are there alternative routes for them?” He warned that when people are deprived of basic necessities, they may resort to taking dangerous routes, which would only further deteriorate the security situation.

“The solution lies in making a collective decision,” he added. “We need to sit down, honestly decide on a way forward, and work together for the betterment of the province. If we can’t do this, then we should openly admit that we are not capable of solving these problems.”

Achakzai’s speech highlighted the urgent need for political unity and effective governance in Balochistan to address the province’s growing security and economic challenges.
