Broad Peak Tragedy: Nine Bodies Recovered, Two Climbers Still Missing, Says Alpine Club President

Islamabad: The President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan has described the Broad Peak disaster as one of the deadliest incidents in the mountain’s history, confirming that nine bodies have been recovered while the search continues for two missing climbers.

Speaking to Geo News, the Alpine Club President said that on the first day of the rescue operation, the bodies of two climbers were recovered, while partial human remains of a third victim were also found.

He stated that the initial recoveries included a Nepalese climber and a female climber from Oman. The Pakistan Army provided helicopter support, enabling the airlifting of five bodies from the mountain.

According to the Alpine Club President, rescue teams later transported the bodies of four more Nepalese climbers and one Chinese climber.

He added that another climber’s body has been identified but remains in an inaccessible area, while search efforts are still underway to locate the bodies of two missing climbers.
