Pakistan and China Are True Strategic Partners in Safeguarding Regional Peace, Says Field Marshal Asim Munir
Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, stating that the armed forces of both countries are true partners in safeguarding regional peace and protecting shared strategic interests.
The remarks were made during a ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, to mark the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. The event highlighted the enduring defense cooperation between the two countries and was attended by senior military and diplomatic officials from Pakistan and China.
The ceremony’s chief guest was Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, while Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers of Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force were also present.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Field Marshal Asim Munir, who serves as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary and praised its contributions to China’s national defense, development, and global peace and security.
He said that the Pakistan-China friendship is unique, time-tested, and has remained strong despite regional and global challenges.
“The armed forces of Pakistan and the People’s Liberation Army share a relationship based on mutual trust, unwavering cooperation, and a common commitment to regional peace, stability, and the protection of shared strategic interests,” he said.
Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong commended Pakistan’s armed forces for their sacrifices and contributions in the fight against terrorism.
The ambassador also thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for hosting the commemorative event and reaffirmed China’s steadfast support for Pakistan as well as its commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
