Crackdown Intensifies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa After Closure of Afghan Refugee Camps; Over 67,000 Repatriated Since October

Peshawar: Following the closure of Afghan refugee camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities have intensified operations against undocumented Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.

According to official data, 67,601 Afghan citizens have been repatriated since October, including 2,056 on October 19 alone. Among those deported were 219 holders of Proof of Registration (PoR) cards.

Overall, a total of 1,413,906 Afghan nationals have returned to Afghanistan so far. This includes 163,253 PoR cardholders and 80,000 Afghan Citizen Card holders.

Sources said that under government directives, the phased repatriation of both registered and unregistered Afghans continues, while operations against illegal residents have been further accelerated across the province.
