Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti Pays Tribute to Martyrs, Announces Comprehensive Support for Bereaved Families

Ziarat: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has paid tribute to the country’s martyrs, describing them as “the pride of the nation, the strength of the state, and the crown on our foreheads,” and vowed that the sacrifices of security personnel who laid down their lives for Pakistan’s peace, security, and stability would never be forgotten.

Speaking at a ceremony in Ziarat where financial assistance cheques were distributed among the families of the martyrs, the chief minister said the government would never abandon the bereaved families and that their welfare remained a state responsibility.

The event was attended by Provincial Minister Noor Muhammad Dummar, Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan, senior government officials, relatives of the martyrs, and local elders. Before the ceremony, Bugti met with the families to offer condolences and express solidarity.

The chief minister said the recent tragedy in Ziarat had deeply saddened the entire province, adding that Islam accords a high status to martyrs and their sacrifices inspire courage, patience, and resilience.

Condemning terrorism, Bugti said terrorists had not only taken innocent lives but had also left dozens of families in grief. He stressed that terrorism has no connection with Islam or the traditions of the Baloch and Pashtun people, and that targeting innocent civilians, women, children, and travelers is against both Islamic teachings and humanity.

He praised the sacrifices of the Balochistan Police, Frontier Corps, Pakistan Army, and other law enforcement agencies, saying the nation owed them a lasting debt of gratitude.

The chief minister urged the public to stand with state institutions and reject terrorist elements and anti-state propaganda. He added that a high-level inquiry committee had already been formed to investigate the Ziarat incident transparently and warned that any official found negligent would face strict legal action without discrimination.

Announcing a comprehensive relief package, Bugti said the provincial government would:

Provide Rs110 million (Rs11 million) in compensation to each martyr’s family.
Bear all educational expenses for the children of martyrs until the age of 16, enabling them to study at leading educational institutions.
Ensure free medical facilities for the families.
Offer government employment to one member of each martyr’s family.
Facilitate all legal and administrative matters to support the bereaved families.

He said all funds had already been released and payments would be made after the completion of legal formalities, including succession certificates.

Concluding his address, the chief minister said his role was not only that of the head of the provincial government but also that of a fellow Baloch, assuring the families that his office would always remain open to them.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism, supporting the families of martyrs, and safeguarding Pakistan’s unity, peace, and stability.
