Airfares Soar as Security Concerns Disrupt Road and Rail Travel in Balochistan

Quetta: Airfares from Quetta to major cities have surged sharply as deteriorating security conditions on Balochistan’s highways and the suspension of train services have left many travelers with limited transportation options.

According to reports, many people are opting for air travel due to concerns over road safety and the continued disruption of railway services. However, airline tickets are being sold at significantly higher prices, making air travel unaffordable for many passengers.

For travel between Wednesday and Friday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is offering one-way fares of more than Rs. 54,000 from Quetta to Karachi, over Rs. 49,500 to Islamabad, and around Rs. 32,500 to Lahore.

Meanwhile, Fly Jinnah is charging Rs. 105,186 for a one-way ticket from Quetta to Islamabad, Rs. 89,494 to Karachi, and Rs. 26,228 to Lahore.

Similarly, AirSial is offering one-way flights from Quetta to Karachi for Rs. 89,255.

Reports also indicate that South Air, which recently launched operations, has no scheduled flights from Quetta to other cities over the next few days.

Members of the public have expressed concern over the sharp increase in airfare, saying the high ticket prices have placed air travel beyond the reach of many people at a time when road and rail transport options remain severely affected.
