Customs Seizes Undeclared Foreign Currency From Family at Karachi Airport
Karachi: Customs authorities have seized a large amount of undeclared foreign currency from a family traveling from Karachi to Dubai, officials said.
According to customs officials, six members of the same family were found carrying US$55,000 and Rs950,000 in cash during inspection at the airport.
Officials said legal action was initiated under the Customs Act, 1969, after the passengers failed to declare the foreign currency as required by law.
Customs authorities stated that the amount of foreign currency recovered exceeded the limit prescribed by the State Bank of Pakistan.
They added that a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced against currency smuggling and that strict action will continue against violations of customs and foreign exchange regulations.
