Jamaat-e-Islami Holds Province-Wide ‘Give Peace to Balochistan’ Protests, Blames Government for Deteriorating Security
QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organized protest rallies, demonstrations, and public gatherings across Balochistan under the slogan “Give Peace to Balochistan”, marking the first anniversary of its Quetta-to-Islamabad Long March and calling for improved law and order in the province.
The protests were held on the appeal of JI Balochistan chief and Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch. Demonstrations took place at district headquarters, press clubs, and public venues in Quetta and several other districts, including Khuzdar, Loralai, Zhob, Mastung, Lasbela, Dera Murad Jamali, Dera Allah Yar, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Gandawah, Jaffarabad, Sohbatpur, and Naseerabad.
Addressing the gatherings, party leaders alleged that government inefficiency and the failure of state institutions had left Balochistan trapped in a cycle of insecurity, terrorism, targeted killings, and unresolved cases of missing persons. These are the party’s claims.
The speakers said the people of Balochistan are now demanding peace above all else, arguing that highways, towns, and villages have become increasingly unsafe. They claimed that had the government implemented the demands presented during Jamaat-e-Islami’s long march a year ago, the province’s security situation would have been better.
JI leaders also criticized the authorities for what they described as inadequate protection of citizens, alleging that corruption, unemployment, border closures, declining trade, and insecurity have made life increasingly difficult for residents.
The party called on the government to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property, restore lasting peace, safeguard democratic and constitutional rights, revive economic activity, and ensure public access to employment and trade opportunities.
The speakers reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to pursuing what they described as a peaceful and democratic struggle for lasting peace, justice, and the protection of the rights of the people of Balochistan.
