Saudi Authorities Issue Emergency Alert in Dammam Following Suspected Aerial Threat
Dammam: Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense issued an emergency warning for residents of Dammam after detecting a potential aerial threat near the city’s airspace.
According to Arab media reports, the alert was sent through the Kingdom’s National Early Warning Platform, delivering both siren-based and text notifications to mobile phones across Dammam and surrounding areas. Residents were instructed to leave open spaces immediately and seek shelter inside secure buildings as a precaution.
Saudi defense and security sources said the warning was triggered by the detection of a suspected foreign drone or missile approaching the airspace of Dammam and the Eastern Province. Air defense systems reportedly intercepted and neutralized the potential threat before it could reach populated areas, after which normal conditions were restored.
Authorities confirmed that key strategic facilities, including Saudi Aramco sites and the nearby international airport, remained fully secure. No casualties or property damage were reported, and traffic and daily life in Dammam continued without disruption.
Reports also indicated that around the same time, warning sirens were activated in Bahrain’s capital, Manama, where residents reported hearing a loud explosion shortly after the alert. Security agencies were placed on high alert following the incident.
The reported alerts in Dammam and Manama came amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. Gulf countries remain on heightened security alert due to concerns over aerial attacks and threats to military installations and key maritime routes.
