WASHINGTON D.C.: The U.S. presidential election polls began yesterday, with the nation set to decide whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will lead the country. The race remains tight, with Kamala Harris holding a narrow 1.02% lead over Trump on the national level. A candidate needs 270 electoral votes out of 538 to secure victory.
The outcome of the election will largely be determined in the so-called “swing states,” where the battle between the Republican and Democratic candidates is expected to be most intense. This year, there are seven critical battleground states where neither candidate can afford any mistakes. These states are Pennsylvania (19 electoral votes), Georgia (16), North Carolina (16), Michigan (15), Arizona (11), Wisconsin (10), and Nevada (6).
Pennsylvania, which was once a reliably Democratic state, flipped in favor of Trump in 2016 by a narrow 0.7% margin, marking a significant shift. In a rally, Trump emphasized that he had not accepted the 2020 election results, stating that he truly believed he should not have left the White House at that time. He also claimed that the U.S. had the most secure borders during his presidency, asserting that they had done a great job.
As the election day unfolds, all eyes are on these crucial battlegrounds to determine the next President of the United States.
