Nawaz Sharif Says He Would Ask PM Shehbaz Sharif to Make Him Prime Minister of AJK if PML-N Wins
Muzaffarabad: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has pledged to restart major development projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), saying that if his party wins the upcoming elections, he would ask Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to make him the Prime Minister of AJK.
Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarabad, Nawaz Sharif expressed his deep affection for both Azad Kashmir and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the lack of infrastructure development in the region, noting that roads in Muzaffarabad remain largely unchanged for the past three decades despite extensive motorway projects across Pakistan.
He recalled approving the Mansehra-Muzaffarabad-Mirpur motorway project during his tenure as Prime Minister, describing it as a unique and transformative initiative that would have significantly improved roads, hospitals, schools, colleges, and universities in Azad Kashmir.
Nawaz Sharif stated that he has never discriminated between Pakistan’s provinces and Azad Kashmir, adding that Kashmir is like his second home due to his family’s Kashmiri roots.
He promised that if PML-N forms the government in Azad Kashmir, all pending development projects would be completed. He further said that if elected, he would personally visit Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and other cities every three months to review the progress of development initiatives, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif if necessary.
The former Prime Minister also announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is sending 10 green electric buses to Muzaffarabad, which are expected to arrive within days. Additionally, 15 mobile hospitals will be provided to improve healthcare services in remote areas.
Nawaz Sharif lamented the inadequate healthcare and road infrastructure in Azad Kashmir, saying that patients are still carried on charpoys to roads for transportation to hospitals, with some losing their lives on the way.
He blamed successive governments for failing to continue development projects initiated during his tenure and accused them of focusing on political slogans instead of public welfare.
Concluding his speech, Nawaz Sharif expressed his desire to see Muzaffarabad surpass major Pakistani cities in terms of development and prosperity, pledging that a PML-N government would work tirelessly to address the region’s longstanding challenges.
