Speeding Water Tanker Kills Two Young Motorcyclists in Karachi; Public Demands Action Against Tanker Mafia

Karachi – The city witnessed yet another tragic incident involving a speeding water tanker, which claimed the lives of two young motorcyclists near the Board Office area in North Nazimabad.
The accident occurred near Abdullah College, where an out-of-control water tanker ran over two teenagers riding a motorcycle. Both victims died on the spot. They have been identified as Zubair (20) and Ayan (18), childhood friends and residents of Data Nagar, Orangi Town. Ayan had recently moved to Altaf Nagar.
According to the victims’ families, the two were returning from Hussainabad after having ice cream when the reckless tanker struck them.
Following the incident, the area erupted in anger. Enraged locals pelted the water tanker with stones, smashing its windows and lights. The driver was caught by the public and physically assaulted before police intervened, taking him into custody and preventing the tanker from being set on fire.
Emergency services, including Chhipa Ambulance, shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Meanwhile, Paposh Nagar Police reached the scene to restore order and launched an investigation into the matter.
The victims’ families and area residents have demanded strict legal action against the water tanker mafia, blaming them for repeated incidents of reckless driving and negligence. One of the victims, Ayan, was a 9th-grade student, and his sudden death has left his family devastated with grief.
