Pakistan to Officially Debut at Miss World; Aneeka Jamal Selected as Country’s First Representative

LAHORE: Pakistan is set to officially participate in the prestigious Miss World pageant for the first time in its history, with 24-year-old Aneeka Jamal Iqbal selected to represent the country on the global stage.

A crowning ceremony was held at a local hotel in Lahore, where Miss Pakistan Universal 2022, Dr. Shafaq Akhtar, formally crowned Aneeka Jamal as Miss World Pakistan.

According to media reports, while Pakistani women have previously taken part in various international beauty pageants independently, this marks Pakistan’s first official representation at the Miss World competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sonia Ahmed, head of the Miss Pakistan World Organization, described the country’s debut at Miss World as a significant milestone. She said the achievement reflects the growing presence of Pakistani women on international platforms and highlights their accomplishments across diverse fields.

Aneeka Jamal, 24, is a professional model and a Master’s student in Accounting and Auditing. She has previously represented Pakistan in several international beauty pageants, including Miss Earth, Miss Global, Miss Cosmo, Miss Eco International, and Miss Aura International.

She gained international recognition after winning four titles simultaneously at the “Freedom of the World” competition held in Kosovo, attracting widespread media attention.

Beyond her achievements in fashion and beauty, Aneeka is actively involved in social causes. As part of Miss World’s renowned “Beauty with a Purpose” initiative, she has chosen to advocate for children and patients suffering from thalassemia in Pakistan. Through her campaign, she aims to raise global awareness about the disease and promote support for those affected.

Pakistan’s official entry into Miss World marks a historic moment for the country’s participation in international beauty pageants and provides a new platform for showcasing Pakistani talent and social initiatives worldwide.
