Pakistani TV Host Nida Yasir Faces Backlash Over Comments on Children Flying Economy

Pakistani morning show host and former actress Nida Yasir has come under fire on social media after a recent statement about her travel preferences went viral. The host, who boasts 2.6 million followers on Instagram, sparked controversy after revealing that she doesn’t allow her children to fly in business class, despite receiving frequent discounts and deals due to her own travel habits.
“I travel a lot, which is why I get business class deals and discounts,” Nida said in an interview. “Whenever Yasir \[her husband] and I get a good package, we take it. But I don’t let my kids fly business class. They travel in economy. They’ll enjoy business class when they start earning themselves.”
The comment quickly made rounds on social media, where many users criticized what they viewed as an elitist and contradictory approach to parenting.
One user wrote, “Why not business class? Are your children on loan from someone else?” Another questioned, “If you have the money, why shouldn’t your children benefit from it? What’s the point of wealth if your family can’t enjoy it?”
Some felt the approach was emotionally distant. “If I were a mother, I’d never choose something better for myself while sidelining my children,” a user commented. “Travel should be a shared family experience, not divided by class.”
Others warned that such a parenting style could have long-term emotional consequences. “Teach them values, but also give them comfort,” a user advised. “They might start feeling neglected and grow distant.”
The incident also reignited debate about Pakistani celebrities’ obsession with luxury travel. “Why are our celebrities so fixated on business class?” asked one user. “And why do they feel the need to share every detail of their personal life?”
As the online debate continues, Nida Yasir has yet to officially respond to the backlash.
