Father Accused of Selling 11-Year-Old Daughter to 78-Year-Old Man in Dera Ghazi Khan

Islamabad: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her father to a 78-year-old man for Rs. 1.5 million in the tribal area of Phagla, Dera Ghazi Khan, prompting legal action by the Border Military Police (BMP).

According to police, the girl’s mother filed a complaint at the Phagla BMP police station, alleging that her husband arranged the marriage after accepting payment of Rs. 1.5 million from the elderly man.

Following the complaint, Border Military Police arrested the 78-year-old groom, while the girl’s father, the marriage registrar (Nikah Khawan), and other suspects fled the scene and remain at large.

Police emphasized that child marriage is illegal, including in tribal areas, and said a case has been registered under the relevant Child Marriage Act based on the mother’s complaint.

Authorities added that raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
