Austerity Policy Enforced in Sindh: New Timings Announced for Markets, Hotels, and Wedding Halls

Karachi: The Government of Sindh has implemented an austerity policy across the province, including Karachi, introducing new operating hours for markets, hotels, and wedding halls.

According to an official notification, all shops, markets, and shopping malls in districts other than divisional headquarters will close by 8:00 PM. In divisional headquarters, businesses will be allowed to remain open until 9:00 PM.

The notification states that these timings will be enforced seven days a week. However, essential services such as tandoors, milk shops, bakeries, medical stores, laboratories, clinics, hospitals, and petrol pumps have been exempted from the restrictions.

Hotels, restaurants, and food outlets will be permitted to operate from 7:00 PM until 11:30 PM, while home delivery and takeaway services will continue without any restrictions.

Additionally, wedding halls and banquet facilities will be allowed to host events from 8:00 PM to midnight.

The provincial government confirmed that these directives have come into immediate effect as part of energy-saving measures.

The move aligns Sindh with other provinces that have already adopted similar policies following federal directives aimed at fuel conservation amid evolving regional conditions.
