LPG Still Selling for Up to Rs450 Per Kg in Faisalabad Despite Official Price Cut

ISLAMABAD: Despite a significant reduction in the official price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), retailers in Faisalabad are allegedly continuing to sell the fuel at inflated rates of Rs400 to Rs450 per kilogram, leaving consumers frustrated.
The government has officially fixed the LPG price at Rs241 per kilogram, but residents say many LPG vendors across different areas of Faisalabad are charging far above the notified rate.
Consumers have complained that the official price is being openly ignored and that authorities have failed to ensure the availability of LPG at government-approved rates.
Meanwhile, the district administration has acknowledged that LPG is being sold at excessive prices but maintains that a crackdown against profiteers is underway.
Officials claim that fines have been imposed and several shops have been sealed for overcharging. However, residents insist that LPG remains unavailable at the official price and that consumers continue to bear the burden of inflated rates despite the government’s price reduction.
