Petrol Supply Slows Across Punjab, Raising Fears of Fuel Shortages

Lahore: Concerns over a possible shortage of petroleum products have emerged in Lahore and other parts of Punjab after fuel supplies to petrol stations were reportedly disrupted.
According to sources within the petroleum retail sector, the supply of fuel was affected after teams from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Customs carried out inspections and stock verification at several oil depots across the province.
The sources said the stock checks delayed the dispatch of oil tankers, preventing many petrol stations in Lahore and other areas from receiving their scheduled fuel deliveries.
They added that dozens of petrol stations in Lahore currently have fuel reserves sufficient for only one day, raising concerns about supply if deliveries are not restored promptly.
According to the sources, no oil tankers departed on Friday from the Mahmood Kot and Gatti oil depots, which normally dispatch more than 150 tankers daily to fuel stations across the region. As of the time of reporting, no deliveries from these depots had reached petrol stations.
Industry sources also said some petrol station owners had ordered smaller-than-usual quantities of fuel in anticipation of a possible reduction in petrol prices.
They warned that if the current disruption continues, the availability of petrol at filling stations in Lahore and other parts of Punjab could be affected in the coming days. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported supply slowdown.
