Chicken Prices Surge as Broiler Meat Becomes More Expensive in Lahore

Lahore: Broiler chicken prices continued to rise in the open market, adding further pressure to consumers already struggling with increasing food costs.

According to market rates, the price of broiler meat has increased by Rs21 per kilogram, bringing the retail price to Rs475 per kg. The price of premium (cleaned) chicken meat has also risen, reaching Rs575 per kg.

Market data shows that the farm rate for live broiler chicken stands at Rs300 per kg, while the wholesale price is Rs314 per kg. At the retail level, live broiler chicken is being sold for Rs328 per kg.

Consumers have expressed concern over the continuous increase in food prices, saying that rising costs are placing a heavy burden on household budgets. They noted that the steady rise in chicken prices is making meat increasingly unaffordable for many middle-income families.
