U.S. Signs Agreement to Build Permanent Embassy in Jerusalem

Jerusalem:** The United States has signed an agreement to build a new permanent embassy in Jerusalem, marking another step in its diplomatic presence in the city.

During a signing ceremony, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee presented the land allocation agreement for the future embassy.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Huckabee said the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the historic and permanent capital of the Jewish people. He added that a new permanent diplomatic complex would be built to serve as the central hub for U.S. diplomatic operations in Israel.

Foreign Minister Sa’ar welcomed the agreement, describing it as a reflection of the “unbreakable alliance” between the United States and Israel.

According to the announcement, the embassy will be constructed at the **Allenby Compound** in southern Jerusalem.

The move was criticized by the Israeli human rights organization Adalah, which said the project would legitimize what it called a longstanding historical injustice.

Jerusalem remains one of the most disputed cities in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel considers the city its capital, while Palestinians seek East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. The status of Jerusalem is one of the core issues in peace negotiations.

The United States formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in 2017 during the first administration of Donald Trump, when it ordered the relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
