Four Militants Killed in Intelligence-Based Operations in Kharan and Kalat; Major Smuggling Bid Foiled in Taftan

QUETTA: Security forces achieved significant successes against terrorism and smuggling in different districts of Balochistan, killing four militants in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Kharan and Kalat and foiling a major smuggling attempt in the border area of Taftan.
According to security sources, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Nauroz Kalat area of Kharan following reports about the presence of militants. During an exchange of fire between security forces and members of the banned militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), two militants were killed.
Security officials said that approximately 200 kilograms of explosive material, submachine guns (SMGs), a large quantity of ammunition, and other weapons were recovered from the militants. The seized explosives were reportedly intended for terrorist activities, but timely action by security forces prevented a potentially major threat.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Kalat district, security forces engaged suspected militants affiliated with a banned organization. Following a fierce gun battle, two militants were killed. Search and clearance operations continued in the area to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure complete security.
Security sources stated that the objective of the operations was to dismantle militant networks and further strengthen law and order in the region. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and vowed to continue operations against anti-state elements without interruption.
Meanwhile, security forces also thwarted a major smuggling attempt in the border region of Taftan, seizing illegal goods worth approximately Rs4.4 million.
The confiscated items included spices, various medicines, MP3 players, and ginger. The recovered goods were handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
Officials described the ongoing operations by security and law enforcement agencies as an important step toward maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan and curbing illegal activities across the province.
