No Excuse for Illegal Migrants: If Saudi Arabia Catches 5,000 Beggars, What Do We Do? Says Talal Chaudhry

Islamabad (News Desk) — Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that Pakistan does not have any interest in deporting its citizens, but raised concerns over the increasing number of Pakistanis being deported or caught abroad.

Speaking during a National Assembly session, he remarked: “If Saudi Arabia catches 5,000 beggars and says they are your people, what do we do?” He said that many individuals travel abroad on valid passports and visas but later go missing or become involved in illegal activities.

He added that the government is working on improving systems for first-time travelers and emphasized the need for cooperation to address the issue of deportations.

Commenting on law and order and political matters, Talal Chaudhry said that the government will ensure the rule of law and no one involved in illegal activities will be given any concession.

He also made strong remarks targeting criminal networks, stating that no one—regardless of status or influence—would be above the law, and those involved in illegal trade or narcotics would face action.

Referring to political opponents, he alleged that some Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers criticize government officials during the day and later seek meetings for assistance. He described this as a “double standard.”

On the issue of security infrastructure, he said that the federal government has a clear policy regarding bulletproof vehicles, which are only allowed under strict regulations. He added that provincial governments must cooperate in eliminating smuggled and illegal vehicles.

Regarding Islamabad’s security setup, he said that around 50 percent of checkpoints in the capital have been permanently removed to facilitate citizens and improve traffic flow while maintaining security.
