Iranian President Thanks PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir After Peace Accord

Islamabad: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their role in facilitating a historic peace agreement, saying, “Thank you, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, thank you, Field Marshal Asim Munir.”
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from President Pezeshkian on Thursday afternoon. The conversation lasted more than 30 minutes and marked the first contact between the two leaders since the signing of the Islamabad Peace Accord.
During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Pezeshkian, the Iranian leadership, and the people of Iran on the signing of the agreement. He described the accord as a historic step that would contribute to regional peace and stability while supporting Iran’s reconstruction and strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran across various sectors.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. He praised Iran’s decision to sign the agreement and wished the Iranian leadership success in the next phase of negotiations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Iran as a neighboring and brotherly nation.
President Pezeshkian, on behalf of the Iranian nation and himself, extended special thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He said both leaders played a crucial role in successfully guiding the mediation process with skill, sincerity, and wisdom, adding that Iran would always value their efforts.
The Iranian president further stated that Iran would never forget Pakistan’s positive, constructive, and sincere support during a challenging period. He also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan and expressed Iran’s desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Both leaders agreed to exchange visits to each other’s capitals at the earliest mutually convenient opportunity to strengthen ongoing cooperation on bilateral and regional matters. They also agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days.
