Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach Record High of $4.6 Billion

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) sector has achieved a historic milestone, with exports reaching an all-time high of $4.6 billion during the fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.

The ministry stated that IT exports recorded a 21 percent increase compared to the previous year, underscoring the sector’s rapid growth and its growing contribution to the national economy.

Official figures revealed that the IT sector’s trade surplus reached 85 percent, making it the country’s fastest-growing export industry.

The Ministry of IT attributed the remarkable performance to a series of government initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s digital economy and expanding the global footprint of Pakistani technology companies.

Over the past year, the government provided advanced IT skills training to more than 100,000 young Pakistanis. Additionally, the ministry facilitated participation in more than 20 international technology exhibitions, enabling over 250 Pakistani IT companies and startups to showcase their products and services in global markets.

The ministry also highlighted that representatives of Pakistan’s IT industry accompanied the Prime Minister on several foreign visits, helping the sector gain access to new markets, attract investment opportunities, and establish international business partnerships.

To further support exporters, the government introduced a number of incentives for the IT industry, including the continuation of the Final Tax Regime and a concessional tax rate of 0.25 percent on export earnings.

According to the ministry, these policy measures have significantly enhanced the competitiveness and export potential of Pakistan’s IT sector, positioning it as one of the country’s most promising drivers of economic growth.
