Trump Denies Reports of $300 Million Payment to Iran, Calls Claims False

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed reports claiming that the United States plans to provide Iran with $300 million, describing the allegations as false and politically motivated.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump said that rumors about a $300 million payment to Iran were “fake news” spread by Democrats.
Trump further stated that Iran has agreed that it will never possess nuclear weapons, emphasizing that this commitment remains a key element of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The remarks come after U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that Iran could potentially receive up to $300 billion in reconstruction-related funding under certain conditions. According to Vance, the proposed fund would be provided by Gulf allied countries rather than the United States.
Vance explained that Iran would only be able to benefit from the fund if it fulfills its obligations and honors its commitments under any future agreement. He also clarified that the release of approximately $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets is not included in the current draft agreement.
The statements highlight ongoing discussions regarding Iran’s future economic recovery and international commitments, while U.S. officials continue to reject claims that Washington is directly providing financial assistance to Tehran.
