Strict Implementation of Muharram Security Plan Must Be Ensured: IG Balochistan Mohammad Tahir

Quetta (Qudrat News) — Inspector General of Police Balochistan Mohammad Tahir has said that the security plan prepared for Muharram-ul-Haram must be strictly implemented to ensure foolproof security for processions and religious gatherings across the province.

He issued these directives while chairing a video-link meeting at the Central Police Office Quetta with senior police officials from across Balochistan, where security arrangements for Muharram and other law and order measures were reviewed in detail.

The meeting was attended by additional IGs, DIGs, the Commandant of Balochistan Constabulary, and other senior officers. The IG emphasized that special attention must be given to the security of internal and external routes, Imambargahs, mosques, and other places of worship.

Mohammad Tahir directed that during Muharram, police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other law enforcement agencies should work in close coordination under a unified strategy. He added that all procession routes will be monitored through Safe City systems and CCTV cameras.

He further instructed that Special Branch and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) should intensify search and combing operations, while strict checking of suspicious individuals, illegal weapons, and unregistered vehicles must be ensured. Surveillance over Afghan refugees and foreign nationals’ movement was also ordered.

The IG Balochistan said that strict enforcement of the Tenancy Act will be ensured, and complete records of hotels, guest houses, and rented properties will be maintained. He also directed that shops and buildings along procession routes will be sealed after clearance procedures.

He added that strict action will be taken against the spread of rumours and inflammatory content, and all district police officers must remain on high alert throughout Muharram to maintain peace and order.
